In case you guys didn't notice, I'm a Republican. I never really say it in articles because I don't want to even "pretend" to represent the Republican party in them-even though my "favorite" reader in the party accuses me of doing just that on an ongoing basis. The blog and news articles I write represents me, myself and I-not the party.
If you have read my articles from the past, you know that I was in no way jumping for joy at the idea of Sen. John McCain receiving the Republican nomination. In my own mind I've been trying to focus on the good qualities of McCain (and there are many) to justify a vote for him.
I personally feel that there is only one candidate left in the race for the presidency that truly represents Republican ideals and that Republican candidate is now on another ticket-Alan Keyes. Alan Keyes is now running for president on the Constitution Party ticket.
The media has had much to say about rogue crossover Republican voters casting votes for Sen. Barack Obama and a part of me is tempted to become one of them. However my temptation is not to vote for Obama but for Alan Keyes.
It would take me a lot to make me vote against a party to which I am very loyal. There are a few reasons for this.
1. I love the Republican party and its platform. I am a Republican.
2. Even a weak Republican is better than the strongest Democrat on any given day.
3. If I do a crossover vote for a third party candidate and he or she does not win, I've essentially helped elect a Democrat.
4. When a Republican candidate is not living up to standards, you need to fight for the party and its ideals, not against it. Essentially, the candidate needs to be schooled.
However sometimes candidates like John McCain make it hard and so far the only thing that has stopped me from going full force for Alan Keyes is the fact that McCain may be going up against a new kind of evil-Senator Barack Obama.
The latest example of McCain seriously getting under my skin involves McCain's backlash against an ad run by the North Carolina GOP. You may see this video below. If you have trouble viewing this video, click here.
The "Obama love" from John McCain is seriously getting old. There are plenty of Republican candidates who would have kept their mouth shut about this ad and there are plenty of hardcore Republicans who see zero problem with the truth.
If John McCain feels that this is some kind of "racist" ad, that's fine-but he's dead wrong. Exposing liberal racism and hate does not a racist make.
John McCain is in a prime position right now. His current Democratic opponents are tearing themselves apart. Whoever he faces off against in November is going to be battered and bruised. He has nothing to lose but everything to gain by simply keeping his mouth shut. Making comments that divides his own party does him no good.
So do me a favor John McCain, just shut up already and my hat is off to the NCGOP. Please keep up the good work. We Republicans need you.

Don't Forget Your Lines Mitt!
During the recent debate, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney almost forgot his "lines."
Fortunately for Mitt, he had someone on the side to remind him of what his stance was on the given day.
Unfortunately for Mitt, it was caught by the microphone.

The New York "Liberal" Times Endorses John McCain & Hillary
If there was any question left about Republican presidential hopeful John McCain's lack of across the board conservatism and the fact that he often leans left, the doubts should now be throughly laid to rest.
The "Liberal Times," oops I meant the "New York Times" has now officially endorsed John McCain as their choice for president on the Republican side.
"Senator John McCain of Arizona is the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe. With a record of working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation, he would offer a choice to a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field," the newspaper said.
They also went on to praise his dedication as an early advocate of behalf of global warming and the fact that he "argues passionately" about "a country's treatment of prisoners in the worst of times."
I'm still reeling over the fact that this guy managed to pick up South Carolina. Thanks again for that Fred Thompson.
They stated that they could not endorse former NYC mayor and Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani because they see him as a "narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man" whose "arrogance and bad judgment are breathtaking."
Congrats to you Rudy on the anti-endorsement.
On the Democrap, oops sorry there I go again, I meant DEMOCRAT side, they eagerly endorsed presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
"Hearing her talk about the presidency, her policies and answers for America's big problems, we are hugely impressed by the depth of her knowledge, by the force of her intellect and by the breadth of, yes, her experience," the newspaper said.
Oh yes. That's Hillary. Big government answers to big problems.

The Not-So-Conservative Facts About John McCain
I found this today at my friend Scott's site, The Conservative Post. It is a great site that really cuts through the chase. I highly recommend it.
In this article he has dug up facts on Senator John McCain that should be considered.
To this article, I would like to add McCain's report card on immigration provided by Americans For Better Immigration and brought to my attention via email. Click here to view.
Why Conservatives Say “Hell No!” to McCain
by Scott Miller
I’ve been posting quite a bit about why I think John McCain is the worst choice the Republican Party could make when selecting the next presidential candidate… and I’m not the only one. Below, taken together, is a devastating case against McCain as the nominee of the Republicans.

McCain and Huckabee Tag Team Romney
Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says Republican presidential candidate John McCain is a hero. McCain says Huckabee is a good man. Both agree that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is neither of the above.
Since Huckabee has gained the lead in Iowa and McCain has started closing the gap in New Hampshire, both have been found in the cross hairs of Mitt Romney's sometimes vicious and often irrelevant attacks.
Where both once seemed inclined to let Romney's mud fly, McCain and Huckabee appear fed up with taking the blows from a less than trustworthy rival.
See related story: Huckabee Blocks Mudballs From Romney In Iowa
In New Hampshire, McCain called Romney a waffler. In Iowa, Huckabee questioned whether he can be trusted with the presidency.
A dear friend of mine recently said he is afraid that the GOP will not survive this election. If this is the case, Romney can definitely be credited with aiding in their defeat. His "if I can't win you can't either" attitude accomplishes nothing but provides plenty of petty ammo to the future Democratic nominee.

Huckabee Blocks Mudballs From Romney In Iowa
Things have heated up between Republican presidential rivals Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee in the upcoming showdown known as the Iowa primary.
From the moment Huckabee gained prominence in Iowa, Romney has continuously taken cheap shots against Huckabee. There's a difference between mudslinging and defending one's self with the truth and it appears that is exactly what Huckabee has decided to do.
The AP has reported that on December 30, Mike Huckabee called Mitt Romney a dishonest politician who couldn't be trusted with the presidency.
Romney's camp accused Huckabee of "testiness and irritability."
Although I'm sure any candidate would get a little irritated at the need to constantly wear mudflaps in a campaign where Romney is involved, I'm pretty sure there is more to the statement.
Romney's campaign has been plagued with flip flopping stances, the need to retract endorsements that were not legitimately received and even talk around misleading statements Romney made regarding his own father's activities.
It appears Huckabee's statement is more of an honest reflection of Romney's character.

Romney Caught Red Handed On False MLK Claims
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's visit to Meet The Press on December 16, 2007 is the gift that just keeps on giving to the Romney campaign.
During the interview he addressed concerns that as a Mormon he belonged to organization that many see as racist.
"I'm very proud of my faith, and it's the faith of my fathers, and I certainly believe that it is a, a faith--well, it's true and I love my faith. And I'm not going to distance myself in any way from my faith. But you can see what I believed and what my family believed by looking at, at our lives. My dad marched with Martin Luther King," he said to host Tim Russert.
Mitt also asserted in his December 6, 2007 faith speech that he "saw" his father march with Martin Luther King.
The problem? George Romney (his father) never marched with Martin Luther King, Jr and Mitt Romney never witnessed such an event.
Martin Luther King, Jr himself even said that George Romney did not march with him. The Holland Evening Sentinel coverage of the rally on June 23, 1963 reports the following:
The crowd at the Center "lustily booed," when representatives of Governor George W. Romney read a proclamation declaring "Freedom March Day in Michigan."
But Martin Luther King Jr. didn't fault Romney for his absence, which the governor ascribed to his policy against public appearances on the Sabbath. "At a news conference following the march . . . [King] refused to criticize Romney for not attending the demonstration," the Sentinel reported.
According to the same report it appears that George Romney sited his religious beliefs about appearing in public on the sabbath as the cause. Ironically that did not stop him to order others to do so. He sent personal representatives to take his place.
Romney said his father had told him he had marched with King and that he had been using the word "saw" in a "figurative sense."
"If you look at the literature, if you look at the dictionary, the term 'saw' includes being aware of in the sense I've described," Romney told reporters in Iowa. "It's a figure of speech and very familiar, and it's very common. And I saw my dad march with Martin Luther King. I did not see it with my own eyes, but I saw him in the sense of being aware of his participation in that great effort," he said.
OK, Mitt. We believe you. We also believe that Bill Clinton "did not have sexual relations with that woman."

Funeral Details For Mitt Romney's Credibility
I have tried not only to be fair but also to actually like Mitt Romney. After all, people can change for the better and isn't that what we all strive for?
However I do have my limits. There's a point that one must see the writing on the wall and realize that this Republican presidential contender will pretty much do and say anything to get elected.
Here are some of the circumstances that have lead to the funeral of Romney's credibility with me. I have ranked them in their order of their occurrence, ending with the lethal blow.
1. Romney sets off "bull meter."
This may not be scientific proof for some, but for me it's never failed. I have been in politics for a good while and have been involved in multiple campaigns. When I have found myself in Romney's presence, the warning bells not only chirped, they screamed with the tenacity of a five alarm fire.
2. Realization hits that Romney belongs to a brain-washing cult.
At first I tried to give The Church of Latter Day Saints the benefit of the doubt. I also told myself religion did not matter.
Then I did research.
The Mormon church no more represents Christianity than David Koresh and the Branch Davidians. What would happen if Joseph Smith suddenly "appeared" to a leader of the organization and told them to hole up with guns? I shudder to think.
3. Realization hits that Romney has zero record of a solid stance on any given issue.
People often change and get better with age. They make more mature and sometimes more educated decisions. I know that God can change a man's heart. However miraculous enlightenment does not come over night. It's a journey. Only someone with a total psychiatric breakdown could make the about face that Romney has done so quickly. After watching Romney flip and flop (sometimes within the same minute) on Meet The Press, even the most dedicated believer of Romney's miraculous change would have to wonder.
Click here to see the transcript and videos of Romney's visit on Meet The Press
4. It is discovered that the victims of Romney's attacks are selected entirely on the basis of poll numbers.
First it started with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton when she was portrayed as the front runner not only on the Democratic side but for winning the general election as well. The attacks on her are too numerous to name.
Next Republican presidential rival Rudy Giuliani became the target when his poll numbers started to soar. Romney began talks of Rudy's sanctuary city as mayor and so on and so on.
Then came a sudden burst of popularity for Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Again, Romney attacked viciously. He twisted Huckabee's words and record on numerous issues without mercy.
Recent poll numbers show that Republican presidential candidate John McCain has moved within striking distance of Romney in New Hampshire. Romney has reacted quickly by attacking McCain specifically on the issue of taxes during a recent New Hampshire speech.
Apparently Romney's attacks have more to do with the desire to win versus sincerity.
In lieu of flowers or cards, On The wRite Side.Org is requesting that money be donated to a deserving charity in the name of "Mitt Romney's Credibility."
Sniff, sniff. Tomorrow I will have to wear black.
