At campaign function in Detroit on Monday, Barack Obama campaign volunteers apparently tried to hide two Hijab-clad Muslim women-Shimaa Abdelfadeel and Hebba Aref-from camera view by denying them seats near the Senator.
“I was coming to support him, and I felt like I was discriminated against by the very person who was supposed to be bringing this change, who I could really relate to,” said Hebba Aref, according to Politico.
It has since been revealed by columnist, Debbie Schlussel, that both women have connections to Islamic extremist activities.
Regarding Hebba Aref, Schlussel writes:
Hebba Aref, was an official of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), in charge of proselytizing. The Chicago Tribune identified the MSA as part of the American manifestation of the Sunni terrorist group, Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen--The Muslim Brotherhood. Aref served on the executive board of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's MSA, which demanded and obtained tax-funded Muslim foot baths at that university, a story I broke on this site last year. Also, two Muslim students at U-M Dearborn, Lola Elzein and Mohammed Fouad Abdallah, sent me violent rape and death threats.Schlussel also reported the following information on Shimaa Abdelfadeel:
Shimaa Abdelfadeel, the other woman allegedly excluded by the Obama campaign, was chair of SAFE, a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor group that hosted the 2002 Divestment Conference against Israel at which "Annihilate the Jews!" was chanted and Islamic Jihad founder Sami Al-Arian was keynote speaker. She's the author of vehement anti-Israel vitriol and propaganda.Obama has personally offered his apologies to the women for his volunteers' attempt to hide them from camera view.
"I reached out to Ms. Aref and Ms. Abdelfadeel this afternoon," Obama said in a statement. "I spoke with Ms. Abdelfadeel, and expressed my deepest apologies for the incident that occurred with volunteers at the event in Detroit."
Obama said the volunteers' actions were "unacceptable and in no way reflect any policy of my campaign."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)-who has been listed by the Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism funding trial-has applauded and accepted Obama's apology.
"We welcome the campaign's apology and urge candidates of all parties not to give in to pressure from the vocal minority," said CAIR Director, Corey Saylor, according to Al-Jazeera.
Al-Jazeera also reports that the women have also accepted Obama's apology and quoted them as stating, "the infringement on our rights occurred and has been addressed; now we are ready to move forward."
It appears that Obama has now sufficiently kissed and made up to the Islamic extremist community in America.
