Obama Campaign Tries To Link Hillary to Wright

On Thursday evening, the Obama campaign released to the New York Times a 1998 picture of former president Bill Clinton with Jeremiah Wright at a White House function and also a letter written to Wright from Hillary Clinton that thanked him for the function's prayer.

Presidential candidates meet thousands of people on the campaign trail and take thousands of pictures with complete strangers. If a candidate actually obtains the presidency much more of the same awaits plus they gain a large support staff whose primary purpose is to do things like write polite "thank you letters." Many of these letters are signed by the president or their spouse without either ever actually remembering the event it references. After all, they do have other things to focus on.

A spokesman for Clinton campaign said that they did not believe the Clintons had met with Mr. Wright before the speech or were aware of any views expressed by him at his church.

The Obama campaign said that they were providing the information to show that Wright was well respected by many, including Mr. Clinton.

Hillary is not on my top ten list by any means. Nonetheless I must give credit where credit is due. I seriously doubt that the Clintons agree with much if any of the recently reveled hate speech from Jeremiah Wright-particularly when you consider the fact that they were the targets in much of it. At the very least, the Clinton political machine is way too savvy to risk hanging around or publicly accepting council from someone as controversial as Wright.

Barack's last name might not be Spitzer, but he has been caught with his pants down nonetheless. The release of this information is nothing more than a sad and desperate attempt by the Obama campaign to neutralize the situation and deflect attention.
