Much has been said about Pat Robertson's endorsement of Rudy Giuliani. He has been called every thing from crazy to a sell out.
I am pro-life without exception. I believe that abortion is legalized murder and there is no way around that fact. As the gravest injustice in America, it should officially be made illegal once and for all.
However I'm going to give an opinion that will most likely have most of my readers thinking I have lost it as well.
Pat's endorsement is not so crazy and he's not selling out. I hope you will allow me the opportunity to explain how I got there.
A lot of the people who are saying these things have never actually had the opportunity to meet Rudy Giuliani. There's a lot of things you can tell about a person from meeting them in person versus reading press reports and seeing them on television.
I have had the opportunity to meet and hear Rudy Giuliani speak on two separate occasions. Each time he struck me as nothing but sincere.
He insisted that he hated abortions and hence as mayor of New York City he took actions that made adoptions easier and abortion levels fell. He said that although he does not feel that he has a right to dictate abortion or choose for a woman from a federal level, he is not opposed to it being decided on a state level by others. He also promised that he would not provide a litmus test to seek out pro-choice judges and would simply aspire to appoint strict conservative judges. Over and over again he came off as a person that had no intention of pushing a pro-choice agenda.
How is this stance much different from that of Fred Thompson?
Fred Thompson recently said the following on "Meet The Press" regarding this issue. "People ought to be free, at state and local levels, to make decisions even Fred Thompson disagrees with,” he said. “That's what freedom is about."
Recently Fred Thompson received The National Right To Life endorsement. I'm yet to find someone calling them crazy.
Giuliani also insisted time and time again that he believes that marriage is between a man and a woman and that he would take a stand to protect it. Yet this is another reason that Robertson has been ridiculed for his support of Giuliani.
Call me crazy but I believe Giuliani too. When I look into the man's eyes, it's not a liar I see and I wish I could say that about a lot more politicians.
As a Christian Conservative, Rudi Giuliani is not my first choice. However when you consider the things above and throw in his tough stance on terrorism and his determination for the protection of Israel, he becomes a reasonable candidate for Christian voters.
One thing is for certain. Any of the Republican candidates would do a better job at representing the values of Christian voters than the most conservative Democratic candidate.
Watch the two videos below as Pat Robertson explains his endorsement. It sounds like some of the very same shocking statements I gave at home after returning from my first encounter with Rudi Giuliani.

You may remove my comment after this and if so thats ok. But I totally disagree. I know Rudy Giuliani is a nice guy, Probably fun to be around and probably actually believes in his heart of hearts that Murdering babies is ok.
Well, actually he don't believe its ok which is the reason he opposes it and believes thats its wrong. So there ya have it.. his stance is one of confusion and pandering to both sides. It's Typical in politics and frankly we're tired of it. And To be honest I can't even stand to watch pat anymore.
If a conservative is gonna beat Hillary it has to be a consistent conservative that actually has and shares the values of the majority of the Party.
If we stray away from our morals.. the Republican party is just as nasty as the Democrats!
And why not Mike Huckabee? He has the qualifications and exeperience to go along with the Morals!
scottyb
Oh and by the way, your right about Fred Thompson too.. he's not all that better than Rudy lol
A baby murdered by a Republican is no less dead than the one murdered by the evil Demoncrats.
It is an insult that Republicans are even talking to RINO's much less considering them to represent the God-fearing GOP platform!
Alan Keyes is the perfect candidate. Teamed with Ron Paul for VP, they would win in a huge landslide!
I like to believe that I would rather lose the election, all my worldly goods, and even my life before I would compromise with the Devil and vote for a RINO!
Geocentre,
your remarks a pretty insulting. You can be against somebody and not be so harsh with ur words.
Your right when you said:
"A baby murdered by a Republican is no less dead than the one murdered by the evil Demoncrats."
But calling people RINO is a bit much! :-P
Scotty,
You're joking, right? You wrote: "If we stray away from our morals.. the Republican party is just as nasty as the Democrats!"
With their history of supporting baby-murdering and sodomy Rudy and Romney have not only strayed from Christian morals but are in the opposite direction of the Republican platform. That is why they, and other liberal Republicans, are known as Republicans In Name Only.
The truth maybe harsh and even insulting but it most definitely must be said!
She's only saying this because she met the guy, sure Rudy may be a nice guy, but if he had biblical morals he would be against murders of babies on any level including a federal level.
And Biblical morals is what America wants in office, and his name is Huckabee!
Ok.. I share your deep concern.. and Im with you.. we need a candidate that not only says they have morals but they also stand by their convictions.. If something is morally wrong than lets oppose it like Huckabee says.
If abortion is wrong, lets oppose it.. if same sex marriage is wrong, lets oppose civil unions.. we should not reward homosexuals with "Special rights" simply for sinning.
All I was saying was calling Fred Thompson a RINO isn't very becoming lol
I'm gonna have to agree that even though Rudy Guiliani has a great personality and is a great guy, I still say we stand on principle. When I think about the issues of abortion and homosexuality, I tend to see both points of view that maybe we ought to let the states decide, or we should make them illegal outright. But from my own Christian point of view, I do not believe God would see handing over these issues in order for the states to decide as the right thing to do. If we truely are pro-life and pro-marriage (man and woman) then we need to stand by what we know is right. We can't let these people who cannot see that it is wrong continue to influence our decisions. It's like if a murder came up to us and started claiming murder is a "way of life." What are we gonna do then? Let the states decide if murder is legal or not? I mean, the more slack we give, the more slack they'll be demanding later. I think its time to say no is no.. and mean it.
And, on a further note, I don't care if Huckabee is not considered to be one of the leading candidates, or of one that is thought to be able to contend with the opposition. I'm voting for the one who best fits the profile of the America I would like to see. I'm voting for Huckabee. And, assuming my candidate doesn't win, if things start to fall apart, I'll still have my right to complain about it, on top of that.
Wooah hold up guys!
I'm just saying that I believe that he is a nice and honest person with many good traits that do fall in line with us as Christians and that they should be pointed out i.e. Israel and etc.
The media tries to play him as a homosexual baby killer and that's simply not true!
I believe he is being honest when he says that he doesn't plan to push any pro-choice agenda.
I would support him over a Democrat any day. I promise that you will not get a one of them to remain passive on this issue which is essentially what he has promised to do. Everyone of the Dems said in a recent debate that they would appoint judges that would support "a woman's right to privacy" aka the right to murder and unborn child without any one knowing.
However, I am pro-life without exception. I want some one who is willing to stand up and fight for those who can't fight for their selves.
I'm voting for and support Mike Huckabee for the nomination.
Holly, have you read Grand Illusion? I'll send you my copy if you want.
No. But I'm guessing it might be about the anti-christ?
Holly,
I don't think anybody believes Rudy himself is a baby killer.. but truth is he does support abortion while at the same time says he's opposed to it.
Does he think we are stupid? His stance is definitely stupid no doubt.
He also supports Homosexual civil unions.. hes supports gun control
The guy is a social liberal and why would conservatives even consider Rudy when theres a Guy like Mike Huckabee? And Huckabee's Rise is showing that Conservatives are finally latching on to Him.
I hope we all go to he Polls for MIKE! Lets keep the Republican Conservative Party, Conservative!
Chris Wallace was talking today to Huckabee saying there's a lot of people that think Huckabee doesn't have enough support or money to win. I don't see it. He's gaining more support everyday. Go Huckabee! But, Holly, I see your point. If Rudy (God forbid) gets the nomination it's better than Hitlery or Obama Hussain. And gay civil unions is better than gay marriage.
Thank you David. If comes down to Rudy and Hillary or ANY of the Dems we are much better off with Rudy.
All I'm saying is Scotty is he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. If any thing we need to pray for both Pat and Rudy for guidance. In my blog I always try to point out good things about people that the media just overlooks and also try to right wrongs.
Scotty did hit the nail on the head though. I can't understand why any Christian voter would vote for anyone over Mike. I don't think there is an excuse when there is someone out there that is better.
Mike Huckabee is a Christian voter dream and people are starting to realize that, praise God!
He's essentially been a David and Goliath story from day one.
We all need to pray about Iowa. If Huckabee takes Iowa it will not out alot of people's petty excuses.
