I know this may come as a shock to you, but there may actually be some corrupt Dems out there. It seems to be a real problem for the good people in the state of Louisiana.
I'm not talking about Democratic Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco or Democratic New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin . Those guys did such a FINE job of protecting citizens Pre-Katrina and coordinating rescue efforts with Republican officials Post-Katrina. All the blame lies with Bush for that fiasco, right? I hear that Bush even runs with scissors! Oh the horror!
The shocker that I am alluding to is the fact that Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) was handed down a 94 page indictment on Monday for 16 criminal accounts and 11 separate bribery schemes, including racketeering, wire fraud, money laundering, soliciting bribes and obstruction of justice. Jefferson also holds the honor of being the first U.S. official to face charges under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits corporate bribery overseas. I wonder if all of this is Bush's fault too??
Jefferson is scheduled for trial in January and has been ordered to surrender his passport. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 235 years. In true Democratic fashion, he has plead not guilty.
I hope that all the good people across America remembers this and help to put the "grown-ups" in charge when voting in 2008.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but MS has just been proven the most corrupt state in the nation.

Now what party is in charge of that state?
Now beyond politics, both MS and LA are in dire need of help. Much of our world is devastation. Where is our country? Here is part of a senate testimony held last week as to why no aid is reaching the people. (Guess what. It is a combination of ineptitude at all governmental levels.) The lady is Connie Uddo, a leader of the hard hit Lakeview, an upper middle class, mostly white neighborhood. Believe me, not a whole lot of liberals live there. Listen to this and ask yourself "Is this the country I want?" Which is more important to you, your party or your fellow citizens in this United States.

Thanks so much for reading and caring enough to respond. Here is my response.
1. The point of this article was to point out that there is something in the water that is not only corrupting the Dems but also causing them to make public idiots out of themselves.
2. In regards to my priorities, I rank them in this order:
God, Family, Country, Then the GOP
3. When I made aware of Republicans acting like idiots I don't hesitate to call them on it b/c they are misrepresenting my party. Hence I'm on the poo poo list with some at the moment.
4. I have a sister whom lives in MS. It appears to me that the state most definately did not receive the attention it deserved Post-Katrina. However it also appears that MS also did a much better job of helping its citizens Pre-Katrina.
5. When you have a gripe you are always welcome to sound it off here.
God Bless and thanks again!
Thank you for the cordial response. First let me explain my background. I am a 53 year old female self employed, past tense conservative Republican. I lived in New Orleans the first 30 years of my life. It was a magical place to grow up and is truly part of my soul. I now live 40 minutes outside the city, in the metro area of the city. My dad, a WWII veteran, died and is buried in the city. My mom, 80 years old, lives one block off the beach in Pass Christian, MS with her new husband, another veteran of II and a survivor of the Okinawa invasion. All of my family came to my house for the storm because I was the farthest west and north. We survived and spent the days in good company though it was a miserable existence in the heat and the uncertainty. My mother and step dad evacuated to his son's house (He is an Episcopal minister) in Atlanta after a week because the heat as too much for their health. It took about a week before we saw any sign of the outside governmental world. It was a tree removal convoy and I wept when I saw it. After that the troops started moving in. We had the closest working airport to NOLA and were a staging point. As time went on we saw many volunteer rescue people also. This is the country I expected and was so proud of. At about 3 weeks I got electricity and communications back and for a second time my world was upended. I read about "Katrina fatique" and more importamtly a huge discussion (and I use that word kindly) as to whether we had a right to exist as a city. In a billion years I NEVER thought America would turn their backs on their own people, but this is the world I re-entered after the storm. I was devastated. Katrina didn't devastate me but my fellow Americans did, esp. my fellow conservatives. I have done everything in my power to work toward the survival, rebirth and renewal of my beloved city. I have seen with my own eyes the incompetence, ineptitude, cronyism and outright lying of this government. Believe me, when you see this government in action you realize why things are so horrible in Iraq. The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. I also learned that political party matters more than citizenship. Over and over again MS was shown preference over LA, even though LA had 5 times the damage per capita. I could write a book on the cruelty the people of the Gulf South have endured since Aug 2005, a cruel story that continues up until today. I always knew that the city and state government was useless but it came as a total shock that the federal government is just as bad, if not worse. The people of the Gulf South are tough, tough people and have fought back from Armageddon with strength and good humor. But it has been so, so hard and people are spent. We have had plenty of promises of help ("allocated" aid) but none seen on the ground. The only true help has come from wonderful angels that have come from all over the country and the world to help us dig out of the mountain of devastation. They are the hope of this country. I don't know why I am telling you all of this. I guess I just want you to see that things are really bad in this country and they MUST change. This is not the country I grew up to love and respect. People have no concept any more of sacrifice for the greater good. They would much rather hear of the latest blond hair girl story than the true suffering that is occurring in their own country. Out of sight, out of mind. The parties are in a constant fight to the death and good government is the only victim. I don't have the answers. I will do what I can to change things for the better, but I worry this country is heading down the same path as Rome did so many eons ago. If you have any questions about Katrina, the recovery, New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, I will be glad to answer them to the best of my knowledge. It has been my world for 21 months.

Again this was not to meant to be a Katrina story. I only brought it up b/c the partisan bull crap from the Dems in LA during Katrina made me sick to my stomach. Then I see more Democratic corruption in LA and the pattern is undeniable. It is just sad. I do not doubt your suffering but remember God is an awesome God. Remember that if you put your faith in the government (made up of people) you often get let down. No one is perfect or Jesus would not have had to die for us to begin with. Just don't judge the masses on a few. However when you put your faith in God who is perfect, he will always carry you through. May God Bless you and keep you!
